Stacy Smith Jennings

Broker in Charge

Stacy happened into a career in Real Estate over a decade ago when she was hired as an assistant at Daniel Island Real Estate. There, she gained experience helping buyers relocate to Charleston and selling luxury properties. Confident and ambitious, she didn’t last long as an assistant, and she and her partner became the top team at DIRE and consistently one of the the top producers in Charleston.

Her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit led to a position as President and Managing Broker of HJP, a small locally owned Brokerage and Property Management company where she was responsible for driving Property Management and sales volume up more than tenfold in just four years.

Stacy believes that it is vital for Realtors to develop a personal niche and execute their craft with expertise and finesse. Using this fundamental approach ensures that each client and their transaction receives optimal attention. With this in mind, she had the vision to partner with longtime friend and colleague Erin Spencer. Stacy personally focuses her sales business on Buyer Representation on opposite ends of the spectrum, working with both first time buyers and retirees purchasing luxury homes and relocating to the area. She considers herself to be a teacher, educating first timers about the process and basic do’s and dont’s, while also acting as a resident expert for local transactions, process, and negotiations that may differ from other markets.

Stacy also volunteers a significant amount of time counseling clients through intensive therapy sessions where she helps them work through their childhood issues, most often at night and after they’ve consumed copious amounts of alcohol, that can often interfere with their financial and Real Estate goals (even though she has no formal training in this field). This is the cause that keeps her so truly engaged in Real Estate: to know that she is actually helping people make breakthroughs and avoid getting in their own way.

Stacy Gives Back

“I support the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by volunteering, donating, and connecting others. I learned about the genetic disorder at the first annual “Best and Brightest” of Charleston Awards in 2012, which I ultimately won by raising the most money for the local chapter.

I am also involved with the local Association of Realtors, where I have been a volunteer for the Reading with Realtors Program since its inception, first at the James Simons School downtown and now at Burns Elementary. Every Wednesday, I read to a 3rd Grader named Laila. I’ve served on several committees at the Association over the years and am currently the Vice-Chair of the Leadership Development Committee.
