The beach you walk on the Fourth of July is not going to be the beach you walk on Labor Day. That is not a metaphor. It is a schedule.
Between June and September, Marinex Construction is moving 2.5 million cubic yards of sand along up to 19,200 linear feet of shoreline, starting on the north end and ending on the south. Sand placement moves roughly 100 feet per day. If you live here, that means your usual beach access is not a fixed thing this summer. It is a rotating variable, and the smartest residents are already reading their season against it.
The moving line
The project is the largest beach renourishment Isle of Palms has ever undertaken, and it landed at a lower price than City leaders expected.
