First, stop asking yourself this. Call one of us instead. Immediately. Likely, there are one of three things bouncing around your head right now: 1) The guys down the street sold his house for $1M 2) Your neighbor parks his ugly boat in the driveway and it’s driving you crazy 3) Your friend just bought a fancy new house. Cue the jealousy.

You are busy collecting data for why moving is ideal, when a neutral, unbiased SSRE professional will be quick to remind you that these are not reasons to sell. Not good ones, at least. There are always two sides to every realty story, and we’re here to pull back the curtain. We offer tough love – certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s the best medicine for you at the end of the day and just what the Real Estate doctor ordered. If you want results, of course.

Smith Spencer’s strategic approach to Charleston Real Estate is superb. We presented them with a logistics problem and they came back with a solution. We were able to sell our home and buy another all in one deal.”   -Caroline Soper

Considering Selling Checklist

  • Contact your agent to get an idea for what a realistic selling price for your home factoring in recent sales only, and time of year. Their data, not yours.
  • Make a list of the pros and cons of selling - sure you can cash out, but are you overpaying on the other end - timing the market typically becomes a wash.
  • Contact your mortgage professional and find out how much you can afford if you sell for the low end of the range your agent gave you, and buy the home that has everything you want...until you want something else :).
  • Be totally honest with your agent about your finances, timeline, reasons for selling, and long term goals.
